Errors and limits
What each answer means, and the limits that apply.
HTTP answers from the MCP server
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
401 | No token, or one that is malformed, unknown, revoked or expired, or its person left the workspace. The answer carries WWW-Authenticate: Bearer resource_metadata="…", which an OAuth-capable client follows to sign in. |
405 | The server answers POST only: there is no server-initiated stream. |
429 | More than 120 calls a minute on one token. Wait for Retry-After seconds. |
Tool errors
A tool that cannot do what was asked answers an ordinary MCP result with isError: true and a sentence:
not allowed: the person's role does not include this tool. It never returns data. Tell the person; do not try another route.not found: the record does not exist, belongs to another workspace, or is outside what the person may read.- An input error names what to fix, for example a cursor that is not valid or a status that is not one of the choices.
Paging
Every list tool takes limit (1 to 100, default 25) and cursor. Pass the nextCursor of one page to get the next, and stop when it is null.
